In a crowded train a familiar scent drifted past. I turned around but it was a stranger. Yet they were wearing the same cologne as you. My heart pounded so hard it hurt and I could not breathe. I got off at the next station even though it was not my stop. I sat on a bench on the platform and caught my breath. Months have passed but just one scent can shake me this much. Memories are carved into the senses. Even when you think you have forgotten your body remembers. There must be many people in the city wearing the same cologne. Will I feel this way every time? Will there ever be a day when I get used to it? The next train arrives. I stand up and blend back into the crowd. This time I hold my breath as I get on. Every time I smell that fragrance your face appears. The past will not leave me alone.
