In this work, a digital delay was developed as a filter for the synthesizer system. This effect delays the input sound for a short period and plays it back repeatedly. The delay time can be controlled by connecting a variable resistor to the integrated circuit for digital delay. Manually manipulating the variable resistor gradually changes the delay time, which slightly changes the timbre of the repeated playback. Moreover, the circuit is changed, which can transform the effect into an echo by delaying the input sound for a long time, allowing it to be played back repeatedly, and the sound played back can be discerned. In Tracks 1 to 3 of this work, a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal was input to this delay and the variable resistor controlling the delay time was randomly manipulated. Analog filters use a PWM signal to randomly control the timbre, but as this delay was randomly controlled by a human, the timbre changes in these filters are different. In Tracks 5 and 6, to create a hard timbre, the PWM signal was input into a whitening filter, and the random signal output from this filter was input into this delay. In Track 5, the delay time was constant, while in Track 6, the variable resistor that controlled the delay time was manipulated randomly. Moreover, the effects for Tracks 2 and 5 used echoes. Digital delay can create different effects from analog filters because it can preserve and reconstruct the characteristics of the input signal. Novel noise music was created by mixing the output signals of the digital delay and analog filter using a mixer.
