Ayumi Tateishi is a Japan-based singer-songwriter whose music is built on little more than a Gibson J-45 Maple Burst and an unfiltered voice. Rather than relying on borrowed phrases, she writes and sings in her own words, creating songs that push herself forward as much as they reach the listener. Her musical journey began at a live house in Takatsuki, Osaka, during her high school years. After spending three formative years in a band, she found her true path as a solo acoustic performer. Over the years, she has built her career through independent spirit and sheer persistence, successfully producing self-booked co-headline shows with respected Japanese artists including Pistol Takehara, The Mass Missile, and Hiromi Yunokawa, and even taking on the bold challenge of selling 1,000 CDs in 100 days. At the core of her music are two driving forces: self-questioning and defiance. She sings without swallowing her doubts, her frustration, or her truth. Her voice is both sharp and warm, carrying a raw edge that cuts through while remaining deeply human. Combined with instantly recognizable melodic lines, her songs feel less like performances and more like a direct expression of the way she lives.
