Artist Profile

  • Daisuke Akao

In 2017, I released my debut single "Tonight on the floor" through Ano(t)raks, followed by my first full length album "Add some black" in 2020 as an independent release. Alongside my work as a professional songwriter, I explore new musical languages rooted in soul, contemporary jazz, hip hop, rock, and Japanese pop music across eras. My aim is to create timeless pop music fresh in texture, yet not detached from familiarity. Currently, my release schedule will be slow as I focus primarily on songwriting work. However, I will continue to share instrumental pieces designed to blend naturally into everyday life, drawing production influences from the 1960s through the 2020s soul, jazz, rock, world music, and post hip-hop/EDM beat approaches. Ultimately, I hope to build a catalog that can be dug like records usable for BGM, sampling, and DJ sets. For vocal works, I am developing new Vocaloid songs that fuse contemporary global production styles with the sensibility of J pop. Please look forward to future releases. Upcoming releases include: Instrumental tracks inspired by late 1970s to early 1980s New York fusion and new wave. Dance oriented instrumental tracks tracing the evolution of dance music from the 1960s to the early 1980s. A Vocaloid track influenced by Amapiano.
