Lyric

The morning when the sun was gone

The world was swallowed by the dark

Only a cold and heavy silence

Covered the earth and left its mark

The Heavenly Rock was closed away

The noble light had disappeared

The birds forgot their morning songs

The flowers faded, colors cleared

The troubled gods gathered together

Beside the Heavenly River

They knew that strength alone

Could never move that stone

So sing, let’s dance, let’s laugh tonight

Bring back the joy, bring back the light

Uzume dances in the night

Stomping her feet, she takes the stage

The laughter of the gods rings out

And shakes the darkened sky

“What’s happening out there?”

A voice comes from behind the stone

Come on out, AMATERASU

You are our shining sun

Open up your golden eyes

And let the light come through

Sing and dance, laugh out loud

Bring back the break of dawn

Oh, AMATERASU

Let the light shine on us!

A tiny crack, a glimpse of light

She slowly turns to look outside

“What is that radiant beauty

Shining there before my eyes?”

She leans a little closer

Just enough to see the world

And in that moment—

The stone is pulled aside

The light breaks through

And darkness has nowhere left to hide

Light flashes through, the sky burns bright

The darkness shatters in the light

The birds sing free, the wild winds blow

The earth begins to glow

The sun is rising!

The world is alive!

Come on out, AMATERASU

You are our shining sun

The endless night is over

A brand new day has begun

Sing and dance, laugh out loud

The light is here to stay

Oh, AMATERASU!

Let the light shine on us!

Oh, AMATERASU!

Bring the morning back!

AMATERASU!

AMATERASU!

The darkness is gone, the sky grows bright

The birds sing out, the flowers bloom in light

And all the world awakens once more

To the light it waited for

AMATERASU

The light has come back again
