This song is inspired by Ken Liu's masterpiece short story, "The Paper Menagerie."
The origami animals are brought to life by a mother's hand. This song's rough yet emotional sound expresses the story of the memories they possess and the love they forget as they grow, only to be rediscovered.
The "ink-stained ghosts" in the lyrics refer to the letter, which is key to the story, and the mother's cry contained within it. Feel not quiet sadness, but the strength of a spirit (fury) that is reborn across time.
