Afterglow / yakou is a song by zera - a silver-haired late-night radio host - arriving as a broadcast from the year 2055, written for a single night.
A mountain deck. A cigarette lit. The city lights pooling in the valley below. A signal received - but one that never reached anyone else. Jazz harmony and city-pop lyricism intersect over the slow pulse of liquid drum & bass, while electric piano and tape grain hold the temperature of late-90s nights. A smoke-soft, low-register female vocal drifts between English and Japanese, and in the chorus, a choir of her own selves rises - just once - past the temperature of the night.
