This remix is a reimagined version of 'CultureNova', a track from 'ikigai - The 1st Album', released in November 2025, reconstructed using sampled sounds of eating Calbee potato chips.
Calbee is a company that goes beyond the conventional framework of a snack food manufacturer, using food as a starting point to create culture, experiences, and future value. Through initiatives such as JAGA Records and Future Labo, Calbee demonstrates a strong commitment to elevating everyday sensations into creative and cultural expressions. This work was produced in resonance with that corporate philosophy.
In addition, the artist, who is based in the United States, found themselves enjoying potato chips almost daily as a late-night snack after the production process. Participation in this collaboration was ultimately driven by the desire to help introduce Japan's outstanding snack manufacturers and their culture to a wider global audience through the medium of music.
The original track 'CultureNova' was born from the artist's experience as an independent musician by herself in a foreign city, New York. It conveys the message that one's life is something to be carved out by oneself, expressed through wordplay* and a structurally intentional lyric composition.

Kumika Hashimoto is a New York based artist born in the UK, raised in Tokyo. She does all the steps herself from songwriting to artwork for the music, and is also active in the design field. After graduating from Waseda University in Japan, she studies graphic design at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She started composing music on her own while attending Waseda University, creating original songs ranging from ballads to electronic pop and R&B with themes such as what she felt in everyday life, and questions about society and common sense. From her experience learning classical piano since childhood, she is good at creating refrain melodies. Having several study abroad experiences, she even enjoys listening to the little differences in pronunciation and spelling for each language, and she studied linguistics and Japanese language education (holds a qualification called JLTCT), therefore she puts importance on how lyrics sound. Also, when studying in Iowa State as an exchange student, she took acting class to learn expressions. After her viral hit of 'hot chocolate in new york', she has garnered over 1 million views across social media and continues to gain international attention. Her recent release 'LA*PPY' captures the joy of Los Angeles and has been featured by Hollywood actors.
