Artist Profile
DJ UMEDA a.k.a JAYMONK
CEO of Jazzy Sport Design Dept., Jazzrize Design & Jazzrize Store. DJ, Beat Maker, and Designer. Inspired by the jazz records that played daily at his mother's coffee shop, DJ UMEDA a.k.a JAYMONK began his DJ career in the 1990s. As a designer, he has also created artwork for numerous artists, including projects for the renowned label Jazzy Sport. His design and production credits include works for Slum Village, DJ Spinna, DJ MURO, DJ Mitsu the Beats, Budamunk, Green Butter, Kojoe, TwiGy al Salaam, Waajeed, Cro-magnon, De La Soul, and many more. After years of collecting records and resources, he began producing beats in earnest in 2020. In 2021, he released the singles (once upon a time) and (Feel the Vybes). That same year, he produced the entire album (Sun Goes Down) by his longtime ally CHUCKIE. In August 2022, he dropped his first album (THE DIGGIN DESTINATION) - a cinematic collection of 18 tracks born from his extensive vinyl collection, embodying deep, soulful beats. Now, in September 2025, he returns with his long-awaited new EP, (OCTAVE JOURNEY). Comprising six tracks, the project explores the idea of (traveling through octaves,) blending echoes of sampling, the heartbeat of Black music, and piano tones that map out the sound of being in transit.
