[Kyons, who appeared on "Rap Star Birth!" in 2021 and the 2022-23 "Friday Night National Tour," releases the single "070-xxxx-xxxx"]
Kyons, who has released a string of releases including the single "Came from Uji" and a guest appearance on "Juster - Diamond feat. Kyons, EASTA," is releasing a new single.
This slow R&B track encapsulates Kyons and his friends' teenage views on love and relationships, with the title referring to the WILLCOM phone number they used to communicate with each other at the time.
The cover photo and artwork were created by Kyons' friend from his teenage years, Raiko. The beatmaker is Loudestro. The recording, mixing, and mastering were handled by KYON-KYON, who, like Kyons, is from Uji City.
This song was written as a contemporary recollection of Kyons' teenage love and relationships. The lyrics are all about that, and are written to capture the atmosphere of the time, depicting the fleeting romances of teenagers.
Back then, there was no LINE like there is today as a means of communication, and WILLCOM, which is mentioned in the lyrics, offered free talk time for up to 10 minutes.
Lines like "The signal is weak at Mikurayama" and "The battery cover is covered in photo booth photos"
refers to the fact that there are areas in Kyons' hometown where the signal is weak, and the atmosphere of swapping different colored battery covers on WILLCOM Honeybee3 phones.
Incidentally, the phone in the jacket photo is the WILLCOM phone that Kyons himself used when he was a teenager.
Teenagers today probably don't have the same relationships where they write "since this date and month" on their websites and end up as married couples who only get separated after a few months.
"I've seen many women prettier than the girl I loved back then, but the one who made the strongest impression on me and who I randomly think back to is always the girl I loved back then. I put that into the song," Kyons says in a convincing tone.
While the love lives of teenagers living in the Reiwa era and those living in the Heisei era are by no means the same, there's bound to be some overlapping intimacy.
As the lyrics, "Now, the 'beep-beep' hold music is enough," suggest, this song takes that bittersweet romance of back then and uses it as a current topic.
Kyons chose the title because he wanted listeners to listen to the song while thinking of the phone numbers of those of his generation who lived with him back then.
~"The 9 minutes and 55 seconds that felt like a second back then"~
Whether you were a teenager back then or are a teenager now, if you listen to this song while thinking of the person you've always had a crush on, I hope Kyons' lyrics will transport you back to "that moment" in just a second.
