A Puddle That Changes Tomorrow is the first recorded work by the artist TORITOMIZUTAMARI.
It is also the very first release from the independent label MUROKA.
The name TORITOMIZUTAMARI carries my own view of life within it.
The bird represents the future, and the puddle represents the past.
Like a bird trying to take flight into the sky, there is the part of me that moves toward an unknown tomorrow.
And like a puddle left at my feet, there are the days I have walked through and the memories of the past.
Between those two, there is the present me, wavering, struggling, and still continuing to live in the now.
This work sings about the feeling of moving forward while being caught between the past, the present, and the future.
What changes tomorrow is not a miracle that suddenly happens.
What changes tomorrow is the person you were in the past.
And that past self is nothing more than the accumulation of the choices and actions you make in this very moment.
There are days when things do not go well.
There are days filled with regret.
There are days when you stop in your tracks, and days when you want to run away.
Even so, what will you choose today? What will you feel? How will you live?
Only those small accumulations will one day change tomorrow.
At the heart of this work is a song of encouragement for everyone living in the present.
Not only for those who are especially strong, but for those who struggle, hesitate, get hurt, and still somehow keep living each day.
"Even so, let's take one step forward."
"Even so, let's try to move ahead."
This work was created with a feeling close to a prayer.
For the sound production, I welcomed Reiji Sakurai, a fellow musician and also a fellow theater performer.
Because we have shared the experience of standing on stage together, and because we understand both the pain and joy of expression, we were able not only to refine the sound, but also to shape the emotions and warmth flowing through this work together.
A Puddle That Changes Tomorrow is the beginning of TORITOMIZUTAMARI.
The one who changes tomorrow is not someone else, but yourself.
Carrying the past, looking up toward the future, and living in the present.
I hope that the small puddle at your feet will reflect the light that changes tomorrow.
