Ten Sen -Heaven Piercer- portrayed the journeys of the Japanese missions to Sui and Tang China, and the determination of those who crossed the sea in pursuit of knowledge and culture.
This follow-up work turns its gaze toward what came next.
What reached Japan through these exchanges was not only the culture of Tang China. Ideas, religions, technologies, and arts connected to a much wider world traveled through the continent and across the sea, eventually taking root in Japan.
Jianzhen finally reaches Japan after repeated failed attempts to cross the sea.
The knowledge and culture brought from abroad gradually become rooted in Japanese soil, eventually evolving beyond imitation into something distinctly its own.
Arrival. Taking root. Transformation.
From the journeys depicted in *Ten Sen* to the dawn of a culture Japan would begin to shape for itself, these three tracks trace a story of inheritance and creation.
