Nakamura Minami has released a summer tune, "ALA ALA," in which she writes about her memories of the Shonan area in the lyrics.
Rapper Nakamura Minami, who is also set to participate in salute's new album "TRUE MAGIC," to be released on 12 July on the UK's leading long-established label Ninja Tune, has released a new song "ALA ALA."
This song is one that she has been brushing up every time she performed it at festivals including FUJI ROCK and at clubs every weekend for the past three years. It is a summer tune with lyrics about her memories of the Shonan area, from Tsujido to Fujisawa, where she played as a teenager.
The track, which has a beat approaching Reggaeton and Dancehall and a disturbing UK Drill-like melody and bassline, was produced by Andrew of TREKKIE TRAX. It conveys a sense of her innocence and somewhat mysterious nostalgia.
Nakamura Minami is a Japanese rapper with a tough backstory of homelessness, which contrasts with her childlike characteristics. She stands out as a unique presence, blending Trap, Dancehall, and club tracks with Japanese lyrics and a highly original flow. Her career began with the Hip-hop unit "TENG GANG STARR," formed in 2015 by Kamui. After releasing a CD album titled "ICON," the group went on hiatus, prompting Nakamura Minami to embark on her solo career in 2019. The track "Reiwa," a collaboration between TREKKIE TRAX CREW and Nakamura Minami, gained worldwide recognition, with DJs playing it in clubs and festivals globally. Subsequently, she collaborated with artists such as Roska, kidkanevil, Anna Lunoe, Morgan Hislop, ITOA, and Hodge. Her song "Ice Cream," co-created with Anna Lunoe and released on Mad Decent, featured in the racing game Need for Speed Unbound, marketed by Electronic Arts. Additionally, her other tracks have received support from DJs worldwide, including Four Tet, Ben UFO, AC Slater, and more. In 2023, she performed at the "FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL," one of Japan's largest festivals. She is particularly noteworthy for those interested in emerging Japanese rappers.
