A piano ballad filled with love and prayers for a precious person.
I wrote this song while thinking of my friend in the hospital
;someone whose smile shines like the sun and whose voice
gently embraces those around them.
With a soothing piano melody, this song is meant to quietly stay
by your side and bring a ray of hope.
I hope you take a moment to feel the warmth of its gentle melody
and the depth of its simple yet heartfelt lyrics.
Growing up in a rich musical environment, Yuki Kotori was exposed to diverse musical cultures through interactions with visiting international musicians and through the Western classical and popular music loved by her father. Her journey as a performing artist began after writing the song Open Your Eyes when her host father, who had been like family for many years, fell into a coma and faced a life-threatening situation. While working as a kindergarten teacher, she developed a desire to create music that gently supports and resonates with people's hearts. This led her to pursue composition more seriously. In 2021, her choral work Hikari was featured in the music education magazine Kyoiku Ongaku. In 2023, her song collection Watashi to Kotori to Suzu to: Songs of Misuzu Kaneko was published by Kyoiku Geijutsu-sha. Her works continue to be performed in schools and kindergartens throughout Japan. In 2024, she received the Grand Prize in the Song Category at the 5th Ukulele Contest 4ALL. Based in Chiba, Japan, Yuki performs with ukulele and piano while continuing to compose choral works, songs and piano pieces. Through concerts, educational settings and community events, she shares music that offers comfort, hope and connection.
