Emerging from Nagoya's underground music scene in 2106, japanese riceball is a four-piece post-rock band. Their sound blends the delicate sensibilities of 90s emo acts like American Football and Braid with the raw intensity of Japanese post-hardcore bands such as The cabs, LOSTAGE, and faraquet. Intricate guitar work, unpredictable shifts in time signatures, and dynamics that ebb and flow between quiet introspection and explosive noise quietly yet powerfully stir the listener's emotions. The band's name combines their reverence for three forms of football (American ,Japanese and Chinese football) with "riceball," a symbol of everyday, humble happiness. Their music similarly carries both the strategic beauty found on a sports field and the transient feelings of melancholy and warmth discovered in unexpected moments. In the highly digitalized society of the 22nd century, they deliberately choose to express the subtle nuances of human emotion through a stoic ensemble, committed to their craft.
