A referral slip, a sterile, cold room

Strange numbers, strange terms, sealing my doom

“For further testing,” the doctor just said

The world stopped spinning, a voice in my head

On the ultrasound, a faceless, dark blot

In my file, a jargon that means God knows what

“Well, okay, if I must,” I whisper so low

Baring my arm for the next needle’s blow
