It's not the scenery that has changed, but the mind itself.
Chromatophism is a coined word that combines "chromatophore,"a pigment cell, and "ism," a principle or statement.
and "ism" of principle or assertion.
The idea was that it would be interesting if the chromatophore of the listener's mind could be colorfully changed.
