"Between the Sea and the Beach" is an album that took six years to solidify Takamasa Suzuki's journey through time and the present into sound. This is because music is not a finished product, but a living process. This work is both a milestone and a milestone. Returning to the primal recording method of singing while playing guitar was not to strip away the sound, but to restore the breath inherent in music. It begins with listening and returns to listening. This cycle itself forms the backbone of the work.

This album also features featured artists, including Fumika Fukabori, who contributed chorus work, and Hiratsuka Manami, who brought new life to the work as a drummer. The sound does not change when someone joins in; rather, the changing sound brings out the contours of oneself. Playing together does not erase loneliness, but rather makes its shape clearer-this, too, may be one truth of music. The moment when two individuals intersect is both coincidental and inevitable, and both inevitable and coincidental. The songs move from the beginning of love to separation, and then quietly transform into affection for a being beyond human. But the story remains unexplained, floating in fragments. Because, like life, meaning emerges later. The songs, arranged like a mandala, seem to move toward a center, yet at the same time have a structure that continues to expand outward.
Swaying voices and slight misalignments in the performance are not signs of incompleteness, but evidence that time has passed. The sounds that remain even after they have burned out, and what can be heard in those blank spaces, is yet to be determined.
What lies between the sea and the beach? That question alone remains, quietly.
