D.J. Fulltono, CRZKNY, and other Japanese artists have been leading the global 'minimal footwork' scene. Among the DJs affiliated with the Polish label 'outlines,' which is the epicentre of this scene, German DJ Strawberry stands out for his danceable, tech-based style, attracting attention from the EU and UK scenes. Following his world tour two years ago and three consecutive releases last year, he has now released his highly anticipated new EP, "Straight,forward EP," through the Tokyo-based label
"koolswitchworks" in September. The EP features three brand-new tracks, along with remixes by artists who have been making waves in the global juke/footwork scene.
The new tracks seamlessly blend the hard tribal sounds trending in the techno scene with footwork rhythms. All three tracks keep the irregular beats in check, utilising acid and spatial effects to create versatile tracks that fit seamlessly into left-field drum and bass, tech-based genres, and the fast-paced even kick beats gaining traction in New York thanks to artists like AceMo.
The remixers are also impressive, featuring DJ Manny from TEKLIFE, oyubi who has toured the world, D.J. Fulltono, Ace-up, and label founder Pharakami Sanders, each bringing their unique sound to the table.
