River Lights ~Hodogaya River Lights~
Liminal Reverie
The fourth stop along the Tokaido journey is Hodogaya.
As the bustle of the day fades,
the quiet footsteps of travelers become the only sound crossing the wooden bridge at night.
Moonlight shimmers across the Katabira River.
Lanterns illuminate the bridge.
The gentle current carries reflections downstream.
Its glow seems to whisper to every traveler,
"Slow down... take a moment to enjoy the night."
"River Lights ~Hodogaya River Lights~" is inspired by Hiroshige's depiction of Hodogaya and serves as the fourth chapter of the Tokaido Midnight Misadventures series.
Floating lanterns.
Travelers crossing the bridge.
Trees swaying softly in the evening breeze.
And the moon reflected endlessly upon the Katabira River.
Built on a smooth Dusty Boom-Bap groove with warm jazz piano, shamisen melodies, and subtle swing, the track captures the peaceful feeling of drifting through an Edo riverside town after dark.
Not every journey is meant to be rushed.
Sometimes the most memorable moments come from pausing to watch the lights dancing across the water.
Tonight, cross the bridge at Hodogaya,
follow the river lights,
and continue toward the next station beneath the moon.

Liminal Reverie is an instrumental music project centered on the theme between reality and dreams. Between day and night. After the crowds fade away. Moments where reality and dreams have not yet fully separated. Liminal Reverie turns the lingering presence, afterglow, and quiet atmosphere of those moments into sound. The project is built on two complementary musical axes: Japanese side: Edo Lofi Western side: Liminal Reverie Each explores a different world, while sharing the same sense of liminality.
