M-key's "Rainy Skies, Hydrangeas and Love" is a bright yet bittersweet Japanese pop song with a nostalgic 1970s kayokyoku feel.

The track is colored throughout by a classic kayokyoku-style horn section, supported by clean guitar, bass and drums, with electric piano used as a subtle accent. Together, they create a light yet sentimental mood that reflects the uncertainty of rainy-season skies and an unsteady heart.

Inspired by the quiet truth of hydrangeas - that what looks like petals is not the true flower - the song reflects on mistaking someone's smile for a sign of love, while still accepting the feeling that has already begun.
