WhiteSoxCo. A four-piece hiphop band from Tokyo, Japan. Formed in 2023, WhiteSoxCo. fuses Japanese rap with live band instrumentation (guitar, bass, and drums), carrying both the sharp energy of hip-hop and the breathing pulse of a live band. MEMBERS Jerichö / RAP One of the very few openly Queer Rappers active in Japan. Based in Shinjuku Nichome, Tokyo's historic LGBTQ+ district, he blends sharp wordplay with a constantly shifting flow. Known for packing an entire culture of references into a single verse. Gutti / Guitar From Kamata, Tokyo. A highly respected improvisational guitarist within the Tokyo session scene, known for the flexibility to lock in with any musician on stage. Also a member of the Setagaya-based city-pop band GSK. KOI / Bass The band's grounded low end. Behind his cool exterior are deep musical knowledge and sharp humor: the "adult in the room." A true slang pioneer, he has been using the word "vibes" since long before it took root in Japanese everyday language. KOSAKU / Drums Owner of Blue Ash Studio, the band's home base and recording room. His drumming breathes, functioning as the lung of the group. Along with Gutti, he is also active in GSK, where he plays bass and sings lead. FORMATION AND JOURNEY WhiteSoxCo. began in the summer of 2023 when rapper tella (the band's original frontman) and guitarist Gutti joined forces. Bassist KOI, who had previously collaborated with them in the studio, came on board to form a three-piece. A pivotal live performance in Tsunashima, Yokohama led to drummer KOSAKU joining, completing the four-piece lineup. After a creative period across Tokyo, tella stepped down and Jerichö joined, completing the current lineup. Carrying forward the founding spirit, the band continues to push its own sound. SOUND Rooted in hip-hop, WhiteSoxCo. weaves improvisational band energy into Japanese rap culture. Their music reflects the geography of Tokyo itself: from Shinjuku Nichome's queer nightlife, to Kamata's underground session scene, to Setagaya's city-pop sensibility. Eclectic, unapologetic, and unmistakably Tokyo. RELEASE Their 1st full-length album "Why Socks!?" will be released worldwide on May 2, 2026, through JELLPHIN RECORDS. Recorded at Blue Ash Studio.
