Aomori/Hirosaki's street scents and raw daily life poured straight into rap-HIPHOP/R&B artist Bonaparte's EP 'Van Gogh', released October 2025.
This work transforms ordinary local scenes-shuttered shopping streets in Aomori, the Shirakami Mountains, the discontinued Owani Line-and the realness of hanging out with friends into songs, as if painting a picture. It simultaneously depicts loneliness, madness, transience, and strength, delivering the raw, local atmosphere to the listener.
Throughout his signature lyrics, metaphors like "I'm just like Van Gogh" are scattered, a characteristic expression that merges Bonaparte himself with art. Emotions and scenes move three-dimensionally over the beats, vividly bringing out the beauty, madness, and conflicts within everyday life. Simultaneously, his love for his crew and the city is depicted, conveying the pulse of local culture and youth.
In 'Van Gogh', symbolic imagery-a head swaying like a farm road, names polished and carved, the presence of home embodied by F.A.T, a home to return to like Shohei Ohtani-links local reality with self-expression. The flow and melody are fluid and free, where rap and singing intertwine, building a unique musical world throughout the entire EP.
Truly a work born at the intersection of street and art. The EP 'Van Gogh', imbued with Bonaparte's sensibility nurtured in his hometown of Hirosaki, carries loneliness and madness, fragility and strength, speaking directly to the listener's heart.
A bolt from the blue.
