When I was in middle school, I liked taking walks alone at night.
The night air was always gentle, no matter the circumstances, and I would quietly listen to the occasional sounds of insects.
Before I knew it, my body had grown up, yet I am still the same person who feels confused, worries, and laughs just like back then.
Even as an adult, I have not lost the habit of wandering on summer nightsI go to convenience stores or hop on a train just for the fun of it and now I can go farther than before.
My careless way of living has not changed even now.
Sometimes, I wonder what the younger me would think of who I am now.
From that perspective, I am living in ways I couldnot have imagined back then.
Yet, I've managed to find happiness on my own, forgive people I thought I never could, fall in love, experience heartbreak, discover more fascinating things, feel excitement and thrill-and there are people who say they love me for that. I think I'm lucky.
I've always thought of myself as more of a moth than a butterfly-something that naturally inspires people to get rid of it just by existing. But recently I noticed that moths have incredibly beautiful eyes, and when you look closely, they're truly stunning. I wanted to cherish that feeling.
Even if I am a moth, and can't become a butterfly, I want to be beautiful as a moth. I also believe that whatever you feel or think is perfectly valid. That, too, is a form of happiness, I think now.
Just as I was made aware of this truth, I hope this song can help you cherish your own sense of what is right for you.
