Juz, a three-piece rock band known for their driving songs that pursue riffs and grooves, will release their 8th single, "Luminescent Fish" on June 17, 2026.
This song, which declares, "Shine by yourself - there is no light in this world." was written in a single day, inspired by a passage from the collection "Hakubyo" by the poet Kaito Akashi - a phrase known as the late movie director Nagisa Oshima's personal motto: "Like fish living in the deep sea, if you do not burn yourself, there is no light anywhere."
Beginning with a striking intro, this song is a beautiful work that contrasts intensity with stillness.
"I wrote it all in one go because I saw myself in that image - struggling to shine even in the underground scene where no light reaches." said Juz.
The music video for the song is scheduled to be released on Juz's YouTube channel at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 20 (JST). The release commemorative tour titled "Shine by Yourself, There Is No Light in This World" will kick off the day after the single's release, on June 18, at HEAVEN'S DOOR in Sangenjaya, Tokyo.
Juz is a three-piece rock band from Tokyo that pursues a driving sound centered on riffs and grooves. Centered around songwriter Juz, the band transitioned from a four-piece to a three-piece lineup in 2024. They currently perform as a trio consisting of Juz (vocals/guitar), Shin Wakizawa (bass), and Yusuke Yoshioka (drums). They uniquely fuse the powerful riffs and grooves of 60s and 70s rock with elements of jazz and funk, striving for both the intensity of their songs and dynamic live performances. In January 2025, they released their first full-length album, "Freeedom" on CD. Since then, they have been actively promoting each track by continuously releasing singles digitally and releasing music videos for 8 of the 10 songs. Since the end of 2025, their music has been broadcast internationally across North America, Europe, and Asia through radio stations such as Nu Rock Radio, IndieLifeRadio, West Coast Radio FM 87.6, Ipswich Community Radio 105.7 FM, Radio Reverb FM 92.7, Alex Berlin, Powerplant Radio, and Fantasy Radio UK. In November 2026, the full 10-track album "Freeedom" will be available for streaming. In addition to their domestic activities, the band is expanding its reach from Tokyo to the world, building on their track record of airplay on international radio stations.
