The original version of "Rain Flowers" was composed in 2020, during the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
At that time, I witnessed flowers blooming resiliently under a heavy, relentless rain. That sight deeply moved me, serving as a reminder that no matter how harsh our environment or circumstances may be, we must never lose our "humanity"—the beauty and dignity within us. I entrusted those feelings to the notes of my acoustic guitar.
For this new production, I collaborated with a talented cellist from Venezuela across the globe. The cello is often said to be the instrument most closely resembling the human voice. The profound and warm resonance sent from the other side of the world now joins the guitar's melody, beautifully reconstructing the piece.
By layering the deep "voice" of the cello from Venezuela over the solitary will originally expressed through my guitar, the song has evolved into a more inclusive and encompassing ensemble.
Having lived through the pandemic, I hope this musical dialogue serves as an opportunity for us all to reconnect with and revive the spirit of humanity. Jack
