A male/female unit consisting of Chinan, a husky female vocalist with a soul/gospel background, and Yuta Kenmochi, a pianist/composer with a broad theoretical background in jazz, classical, R&B, electronica, Cuban music, etc. Each of them has individually performed vocals and composed music for many japanese major companies' advertisements. They have been performing as a unit under the name Silly Monkey since 2014, performing and organizing local festivals and releasing CDs at Shimokitazawa mona records.

In early 2022, they changed their name to "Coala" to start making music again. The band will release four songs simultaneously for the first time for distribution, featuring Shuntaro Oishi (Sax), who also supports Kururi and cero, Shunsuke Suzuki (Dr), formerly of Still Caravan, and Ei Yamamoto (Ba), who also plays with Etsuko Nami and Ryota Tosaka (Bankband).

With Chinan's deep and resonant voice at the core of the music, the band seeks new and intelligent music influenced by John Bryon, David Byrne, Satie, and others, while keeping in mind that the music should be enjoyed as J-POP.
