(Synopsis of the Japanese fairy tale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter") A young girl is found amongst bamboo poles and lovingly raised by an elderly couple. She grows into a beautiful woman who poses difficult questions to her suitors. One moonlit night, gazing at the moon, she is overcome with deep sadness... and reveals that she is destined to return to the moon on the next full moon night. This piece was composed with Princess Kaguya in mind, the protagonist of "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter," said to be Japan's oldest fairy tale.
I began learning classical piano at the age of five, and a Canadian woman taught me how to sing, which sparked my interest in music and other cultures. During my student days, I played street music, later became a band lead singer, and now I'm performing solo. My songs are written in English. My first single, "Through You," was born as a song celebrating my own growth and the feeling of love. Each piano chord has a different sound, and in addition to the rhythm, string instruments and glockenspiel are used to create an orchestral feel, creating a song that gradually gains a sense of bliss toward the end. My second and fourth singles, "Kaguya Princess," have attracted interest both in Japan and overseas since their demo versions were released. They are unique pieces based on Japan's oldest fairy tale, featuring the koto, African drums, and percussion. My third single, "Another Sea," is inspired by ocean waves and has a poetic quality.
