Wrong bus

New street

Lost plans

You and me

We had the address, had the time

Had the perfect little day in mind

Then the bus turned left too soon

And I said, “Wait, is this our route?”

You checked the map, I checked your face

Both of us trying not to panic

The café sign we came to find

Was nowhere on this side of traffic

At first we blamed the morning

Then the signal, then the rain

But you laughed under your breath

And I forgot to complain

Wrong turn, right day

Nothing went the way we made it

But I wouldn’t trade

One lost minute that we wasted

Wrong turn, right day

We got no plan, but that’s okay

If I’m lost, I wanna be

Lost like this with you beside me

Oh-oh, where are we now?

Oh-oh, let’s find out

Oh-oh, what can I say?

Wrong turn, right day

Found a street with paper lanterns

Tiny shops and old guitars

You bought snacks we couldn’t name

From a place with two blue chairs

Then we ended at a park

With a slide and crooked trees

You said, “This is kind of better”

I said, “Yeah, surprisingly”

The schedule disappeared

Somewhere past the bakery

But the less we tried to fix it

The more it felt like memory

Wrong turn, right day

Nothing went the way we made it

But I wouldn’t trade

One lost minute that we wasted

Wrong turn, right day

We got no plan, but that’s okay

If I’m lost, I wanna be

Lost like this with you beside me

Maybe perfect is too quiet

Maybe maps don’t know the best

Maybe all the little mistakes

Are the parts that we remember

You took a photo of the street

I took a photo of your smile

No famous place, no shining view

Still my favorite for a while

Wrong turn, right day

Everything we missed became it

All the plans we couldn’t save

Turned into the story we made

Wrong turn, right day

Let the bus go any way

If the road gets strange and new

I hope I’m going there with you

Oh-oh, where are we now?

Oh-oh, don’t care now

Oh-oh, what can I say?

Wrong turn, right day

Wrong bus

New street

Best plan

You and me
