Yuka Iizuka studied under jazz pianist Fumio Karashima, and has steadily built up her career, including winning the Excellence Award at the Yokohama Jazz Promenade two years in a row.
Her second album is released four years after her last one.
All of the songs are originals, and the sessions with Hisahisa Nagami on bass and Shinichiro Hayashi on drums are highlights of the album.
Compared to her previous album "Time Limit," which was mainly catchy and pop songs, this album contains many chic songs, mainly blues.
"Before After," which is also the title track of the album, is a light swing number.
Other highlights include a timeless jazz standard, the mysterious "Strange Dream," with its creative chord progression, and "Eighties," which features a breathtaking chorus by the three members.
In 2011, Yuka Iizuka invited the two people she met through a jam session to her band and formed a piano trio. Mainly live activities in Tokyo.
