Shanshui

"Shanshui" is a collaborative work by Japanese musician koji itoyama and Taiwanese guqin player Hsaio Yi Ting.

The piece is inspired by the sensibility found in traditional Chinese and Japanese shanshui landscape painting, where landscapes are portrayed not through the mountains and water themselves, but through emptiness, suggestion, and subtle presence.

The delicate resonance of the guqin slowly intertwines with electronic sounds, creating music that does not depict a specific place, but instead allows a landscape to emerge within each listener.

A quiet landscape between sound and silence, presence and absence.
