Tamura Ritsunosuke
He is known as the "Father of Beer Barley" for laying the foundation for beer barley cultivation in Tochigi Prefecture.
Even today, a statue of him stands on Ajisai-zaka (Hydrangea Hill) at Ohirayama Shrine in Tochigi City, overlooking the golden wheat fields of Ohira.
In honor of Ritsunosuke Tamura, a beer festival is held twice a year in Tochigi City, in May (spring) and September (autumn).
