Toribeyama Hasu Koharu Shura Sanzesou

Inspired by Chikamatsu Monzaemon's "Sansei-so" (1686)

While there are several works bearing the "Sansei-so" title, including Chikamatsu Monzaemon's period pieces and later adaptations by Chikamatsu Hanji and others, this work features strong elements of cause and effect spanning the "three worlds" (past, present, and future) and a journey through hell.
"Karma" and "Reincarnation."
Past life (previous life): Promise and sin.
This life (now): Love and the suffering caused by money.
The next life (future): Judgment in hell after death (King Enma).

In their previous lives, the two pledged their love to each other, but were torn apart by a sin. They promised to be together in their next life, but this was the beginning of a curse-like karma. In this life, evil people get in the way of their relationship, and lies and desires swirl. The heroine coldly manipulates men.
After death: The courtroom of hell. The heroine is brought before King Enma, but remains unfazed. As if to say, "I'll even boil the cauldron of hell," she dances through the karma of the three worlds.
