This song was done after trying various versions for about a week.
First of all, I found a chord progression that I liked, and I put my voice into a sampler, added some effects to it, put the drums, etc., and gradually built up the vibe of the song.
I couldn't come up with a melody for the song, so at the initial stage, I thought that this song would be fine with just vocal chops.
I always sing using Auto-Tune, and this song is C# Minor, but when I changed the Auto-Tune setting to E Major, it suddenly became easier to sing, and I think the melody matched more.
I got a little lost from there and tried to arrange the second half to Reggaeton but it didn't work. So I layered some electrocardiogram sound on the break part to make it a little more movie-like than a typical chorus.
First I thought I would rap for the 2nd verse, but I tried a melodic rap inspired by artists such as Bryson Tiller, Drake and A Boogie With da Hoodie.
The lyric is about finding out that the love you've been seeking for so long is actually toxic, and there is nothing there; and the need to put an end to relationships where you're the only one who tries to make things work.
