Fresh off their September debut EP, the rising four-piece drop a dance-rock heater packed with sweat-soaked catharsis.

Fresh off the back of their debut EP in September, fast-rising alternative four-piece The Vounds are wasting no time asserting their dominance with urgent new single 'Dance Away'.

Kicking off the band's second chapter in swaggering style, the track is the epitome of danceable 00s rock'n'roll revivalism. Built on the distorted, instantly infectious bass guitar riff and backed by slick, motorik drumwork with a serious groove, it's tailor-made for sweaty, packed-out indie club floors.

Yet beneath its dancefloor-ready sheen lies something far more potent. Frontwoman Ayaka delivers the lyrics with a husky, rapid-fire spit, starting out coolly indifferent ("It could be anyone, I don't know") before spiralling into a surge of sharp, existential desperation on the chorus: "Finding love in the darkest of times / All the good things slipping through my fingers / Come and get me from the other side / Shut your mouth, let's dance it all away."

By lacing a straight-up party banger with that shade of poignant melancholy, The Vounds turn a generic party banger into a definitive dance-rock anthem. If this is where chapter two begins, expect them to take over real soon.

Artist Profile

  • The Vounds

The Vounds are a London-formed, Tokyo-based four-piece alternative band featuring Aya (vocals), Ryo (bass), Haruka (guitar), and Tetsu (drums). Rooted in alternative rock, the band draws on its members' diverse musical backgrounds to forge a sound where post-punk attitude, indie sleaze aesthetics, alt-pop hooks, and hip-hop-driven rhythms collide. By blending raw guitars with dancefloor momentum and sharp vocal phrasing, The Vounds sit squarely at the intersection of alternative rock and club culture, equally at home in a sweaty basement venue or on a massive festival stage. This boundary-crossing approach drives bold, fluid songwriting that moves effortlessly between genres while maintaining a razor-sharp, cohesive identity. At the center of their sonic landscape is Aya's commanding and versatile vocal presence, which shifts seamlessly from husky, breath-laced intimacy to soaring high registers and rapid-fire delivery. Her performance is anchored by a tight, high-impact rhythm section and dynamic, effects-textured guitar work. That raw studio chemistry translates powerfully on stage. Defined by explosive builds, controlled tension, and an undeniable command over the crowd, their live sets are urgent, deeply physical, and impossible to ignore. Formed in London, Aya's second home, and shaped by the members' lives in Tokyo, the band beautifully embodies the duality of both metropolises. Their sound channels an indie sleaze sensibility infused with London's underground grit and Tokyo's neon precision, creating a cross-cultural identity that is vibrant, current, and primed for the global stage.
