Born from the co-writing camp of Music Lane Festival Okinawa, the international showcase festival based in Okinawa, Trans Asia Resonance is a collaboration project that brings together outstanding artists from across Asia and Japanese songwriters and producers.

The fifth release in the series, "Fuyu No Hanabi" by Malaysian artist Straw Lim, will be released digitally on July 17.

Straw Lim is a multilingual Chinese Malaysian singer-songwriter whose music explores themes of social issues and identity through encounters and collaborations across diverse cultures. Blending traditional rhythms with contemporary arrangements, her work has received widespread recognition, earning Best Overall Production and Creative Excellence at the 2024 Short+Sweet Festival Malaysia, while also being nominated for the Top 25 Singles of the Year at the 19th Freshmusic Awards. She has since performed at a wide range of festivals both in Malaysia and internationally.

Created during a winter co-writing session in Okinawa, "Fuyu No Hanabi" captures the raw groove and spontaneous energy of that unique moment. The song naturally weaves together Japanese, English, Chinese, phrases inspired by Malaysian folk traditions, and even elements of Okinawan Eisa rhythm, creating a rich musical landscape where different cultures and atmospheres coexist effortlessly. It is truly a song that could only have been born in that place, at that moment-and the title, "Fuyu No Hanabi" (Winter Fireworks), reflects the unforgettable encounter that took place in Okinawa that winter.
