Kato Kino is a talented singer-songwriter. She has released her third EP, "Exposure," a series of six songs that coolly "expose" the absurdity and unreasonableness that infest the current era. The second song, "Demon King," is a beautiful pop middle ballad that coolly expresses intense anger.
According to the artist, "I was inspired by the classical song "The Devil King" and wrote this song on DAW. When I was working with people in the industry, they said they wanted to do something interesting and new, but instead of respecting each individual, they ended up trying to fit into the existing mold, which I thought was fucked up.
It seems that nothing was conveyed to him because he only said, "That's cool!"."
Kino Kato began her musical career in 2014. In 2015, she won the Nagoya Grand Prix at the 9th Music Revolution. With a guitar style that evokes percussive rhythms, she continues to release songs that portray the absurdities of everyday life and discomfort with society, expressed through sharp irony and humor. Traveling alone to London, the Czech Republic, and Paris, she actively pursued live performances abroad. Her one-man show in Paris sold out, marking a significant milestone. In addition, through three months of busking, she cultivated a truly unique form of expression and performance. In 2021, she founded her independent label, Onikko Label. In 2025, she performed at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL as part of ROOKIE A GO-GO. The name "Kino Kato"originates from her childhood nickname "Kinoko" (meaning "mushroom"), which she was called due to her bowl haircut in elementary school. Retaining "Kino" from that nickname and combining it with her former surname "Kato,"she adopted the name as her artist identity.
