Just had fun

I think this is the end

Just had fun

Everything I've had

Just had fun

Can't write the rest anymore

Just had fun

Finally I'm satisfied

Just had fun

Just had fun

Our lives are up in the air now

Just had fun

That’s how it goes in the end

Just had fun

Thoughts and emotions don't matter now

Just had fun

I'll call it good

Wake up with the sun every day

Fall asleep with grace, no regrets

I’ve dreamed of those days time after time

No need to dip the bread in wine

Just had fun

Sometimes I thought I was born again

Just had fun

I even know there’s salvation somewhere

Just had fun

I used to seek it but I'm aware

Just had fun

Just awareness is it

Surrounded by flowers in bloom

I’m still sowing seeds at my feet

The light of day burns my eyes

Sometimes I long for rain

Just had fun

Our lives are up in the air now

But I just had fun

Everything I've had

With almighty lessons and words

Today I climb this hill up and down

Grateful for every blessing and learning

Just had fun I just had fun

They say truth is stranger than fiction

But there are truths no one ever knows

A dry abandoned ship is falling apart

Just had fun I just had fun

    Just had fun

The second single by yi, featuring two tracks.

"For you", an alternative pop track that weaves a dark atmosphere and destructive sounds through a diverse range of developments, poses a simple yet profound question to the listener.

The title track, "Just had fun", is an alternative rock song that ironically portrays the complexity of human introspection, where resignation and intensity intermingle, as well as the traces of self-consciousness that emerge when looking down upon those emotions from a distance. This is expressed through distorted, wave-like sound design and a lyrical approach incorporating religious motifs.

Following yi's previous solo release, "Walker by the shore", this work continues to explore the "turbulence of human introspection" through a broad range of sound-making and musical developments. Through this continued exploration, the release takes on a greater variety of musical textures and a wider fluctuation in emotional intensity.

With its two-track structure, the work as a whole carries a weighty sense of pressure, further emphasizing its overarching theme.

Artist Profile

  • yi

Born in Fukuoka, Japan, he grew up listening to domestic rock music as well as American pops and R&B from the 1970s and 1980s. Continually inspired by forms of expression that transcend technique, he broadened his perspective while exploring his own modes of expression and production. In 2024, he began pursuing music in earnest. With the concept of symbolizing humanity at its core, he embraces a genre-fluid approach and bold sound design unafraid of ambiguity or density. Through this, his work portrays human introspection, not in binaries, but as a gradient in which opposing elements coexist.
