Down by the salley gardens
My love and I did meet
She passed the salley gardens
With little snow-white feet
She bid me take love easy
As the leaves grow on the tree
But I, being young and foolish
With her did not agree
In a field by the river
My love and I did stand
And on my leaning shoulder
She laid her snow-white hand
She bid me take life easy
As the grass grows on the weirs
But I was young and foolish
And now am full of tears

Greentale
Greentale is an acoustic collaboration duo featuring vocalist Yamamo Maya (Yukiko Yamamoto) and acoustic guitarist Ryosuke Tomita. Their first album, A letter from (2025), is a delicate blend of Celtic music, Irish Trad, original fantasy lyrics, and influences from classic video game soundtracks. The album includes eleven tracks, featuring selections from their two EPs, four new songs, and a breezy acoustic guitar instrumental of "Senshi no Yoroi wo Kaini." Greentale's sound-built on clear, tender vocals and the guitarist's soft fingerstyle approach-is an intimate acoustic texture that gently resonates with the listener's inner self. It is a sound of quiet, genuine beauty inspired by nature and the human heart.
Artist Profile
Greentale
Greentale is an acoustic duo formed by vocalist Yamamo Maya (Yukiko Yamamoto) and acoustic guitarist Ryosuke Tomita. Based in Ichikawa, Chiba, the duo creates arrangements rooted in Irish traditional and Celtic music alongside original compositions. While they mainly release their works online, they also appear once or twice a year at independent music fairs, where they distribute physical CDs. Their sound blends a clear, transparent voice with delicate fingerpicking guitar, resonating with the listener's inner landscapes and stories to shape a distinctive musical world. Valuing music that reflects both natural and emotional scenery, Greentale released their first full-length album, A letter from, in spring 2025. Containing eleven tracks, the album combines warmth and spaciousness through an acoustic sound that invites calm and reflection. Yamamo Maya (Yukiko Yamamoto) Originally from Tokyo and now residing in Ichikawa, she worked for eight years as a sound creator at a major game company before becoming a freelance musician. In addition to composing, she performs actively as a vocalist, occasionally playing Celtic harp. Her voice, at once clear and powerful, enriches each song with depth and emotion. Balancing her artistic pursuits with life as a mother of one, she continues to expand her creative range. Ryosuke Tomita Born in Hokkaido and now based in Ichikawa, Tomita draws inspiration from New Age music and the works of Windham Hill artists. His compositions and performances focus on instrumental guitar, crafted through expressive fingerpicking. Alongside releasing music online, he provides library tracks for local TV and radio stations. His guitar sound, both gentle and resonant, gives Greentale music its sense of narrative and atmosphere.
