Born in Shibuya, Tokyo, in 1989, JONI JTS became deeply involved in freestyle rap during his teenage years, spending time at clubs in Kabukicho, Kanagawa, and other parts of the Tokyo area. In 2009, he competed in the Under-20 MC Battle at BBOY Park, winning one preliminary-round battle before being eliminated. As Japan's rap scene became increasingly glamorous, he gravitated toward the underground. He performed as KRU with his partner CORE at "Pied Piper," an event organized by Gacha at the legendary Ikebukuro BED, and soon became a regular at the venue. After joining HTIK, he performed throughout Ikebukuro, West Tokyo, Nakano, and Shinjuku. In 2017, he independently released his debut CDR, "Swimming Karma EP," which was distributed through record stores across Japan. Soon after, he was struck by a severe illness that left him in a coma for one month. Although he recovered, he continued to suffer from serious symptoms for years. In 2022, he released the collaborative EP "Blue Leaf EP" with the soulful beatmaker DON ESKAR. Despite further hospitalizations and enduring years of unimaginable hardship, he returned in 2024 with "Soul Patience," a collaborative album by 3tani, J.Rick, and JONI JTS, fully produced by Sendagaya's J.Rick, a respected figure from his hometown of Shibuya. After a decade of fighting through illness and relentless rehabilitation, JONI JTS emerged with his rap and beatmaking sharpened to a new level, once again immersing himself deeply in music.
