Sandii, a pioneer of borderless music in Japan, has chosen Oahu and Tokyo as the recording locations for this album, the culmination of "the Singer, Sandii". The album features Tahitian, Hawaiian, and Japanese songs, and is composed without a drum set and with acoustic instruments, and actively features classic songs that have not yet been introduced to Japan.
You can enjoy the beautiful and vital Lemurian music expressed by "the Singer, Sandii", who is also known as a Hula evangelist.
(Album producer: Takuji Aoyagi)
Sandii lived in Hawaii during her late teens and most of her 20s. In that period, she sang in clubs and studied hula with Aunty Bella Richards of Kailua. She also met and bonded with Pattye Kealohalani Wright, who later became a Kumu Hula through Aunty Lani Kalama (1990). Sandii has the various, many different musical phases of her recording career. She has recorded as Sandi Ai, Sandy Hohn, Sandii & the Sunsetz, and now as Sandii. Since 1996, her albums have been Hawaiian or Polynesian-theme.
