A rock ballad for a father who is gone.
After three albums of classical arrangements, KNOX returns to original Japanese songwriting with their most personal release to date.
The song is written from a son's point of view. A father whose back seemed too large, too distant to approach. A hand offered without words that the child could never quite take. A man who said neither "keep going" nor "don't push yourself" whose love was simply that he was there.
The second verse turns to what remains. An old jacket that still carries his scent. Worn-down shoes. A wristwatch that stopped. Time that was lived, sitting inside objects that outlasted him.
The title names the weight the song carries. Every sentence that was never spoken the scolding he wanted one more time, the name called in that familiar voice, the thank-you that arrived too late. None of it can reach him now. He says it anyway.
Musically the track opens with fingerpicked acoustic guitar and piano, restrained and spacious. Strings enter beneath the second verse and the band gradually opens into full melodic rock. A long, singing lead guitar solo follows the bridge bending and sustaining rather than shredding before the arrangement falls back to acoustic guitar for the closing lines.
Sung entirely in Japanese.
