  THE SHIJUHATTS refers to the traditional forty eight techniques of lovemaking in Japan. But for us, it also speaks to the countless techniques of survival. Moves, habits, repetitions, obsessions. THE SHIJUHATTS creates music that never quite becomes beautiful and has no interest in pretending otherwise. Awkwardly precise, precisely awkward, the band continues to shape its sound through persistence and repetition. Funk, alternative rock, hiphop, noise, and the sounds of everyday life. Everything is absorbed, chewed up, spat out, and reassembled into something new. For THE SHIJUHATTS is not only a number of techniques. It is a symbol of variation, obsession, eccentricity, and the beautiful messiness of Japanese culture.
