"dance. blend. release yourself." this is the catchphrase for the inaugural event. mao shida, the representative of the npo, shared the inspiration behind planning the event: "through my work with children and young people with disabilities through dance, I've come to see immense value not in whether someone 'can or cannot' do something, but in the 'expression unique to that person.' hip-hop and breaking, in particular, have the power to connect people beyond words and backgrounds. I wanted to create a space where people with disabilities stand on stage not as 'those in need of support,' but as individual performers sharing the raw energy of the venue. by seeing this, the audience naturally smiles, and their values and sense of distance gradually shift. That is the kind of landscape I want to build."
shida also shared, "dance and music have the power to connect people beyond words. even if you struggle to express yourself verbally, letting your body move to the same rhythm naturally brings a smile to your face. wild champloo is an initiative to create more of these moments within our community. I want to build a place together with everyone-where children and adults, regardless of experience or background, can participate just as they are."
this exclusive piece was newly written by pit-gob, inspired by shida's vision!
