This is the first album of Euphonix, an electronica musician who has been making music inspired by the 80s and 90s electronica scene. He makes cool and nostalgic sounds built using vintage synthesizers. These songs are reminiscent of the medium-term Yellow Magic Orchestra but have a light groove and create a unique electronica world. The album's lead song "ROBOTIC LUV" welcomes Kaori Hanai of the girls rock band "sugar'N'spice". The result is a danceable and cute electronica sound. In addition, ROBOTIC LUV's MUSICVIDEO has a lot of sense of the future. The last of this album contains "NEVER BE GOOD POETRY", a techno love song with lyrical and beautiful melody.

Artist Profile

  • Euphonix

Euphonix is a Tokyo based electro and synth pop producer inspired by the electronica and technopop movements of the 80s and 90s. In 2010, he received an award in the Fred Perry song contest judged by Yukihiro Takahashi of YMO. He later contributed tracks to J-WAVE's MUSIC HYPER MARKET and provided music for vocalist Joanna Koike under his alternative project Drip dry eyes. His second album, SPACESHIP HEAD, released in January 2023, was created with lyrics written by Chris Mosdell, a British lyricist known for his work with YMO, film music, and stage productions. For the production, Euphonix crafted the album using carefully modeled vintage synth sound sources within a modern DAW environment, achieving both the warm analog depth of classic instruments and the precision of current production methods. The result is an electronic sound style that recalls mid period YMO and 1980s electronic music while still feeling modern. The lead track, SPACESHIP HEAD, is paired with an SF movie style music video created using advanced digital human technology. In April 2023, the track was selected as the Best Work in the synthesizer contest on the radio program Logic Radio (FM Kyoto), hosted by Hideki Matsutake, often referred to as the fourth member of YMO.
