"Kopi Dangdut," is a Dangdut arrangement of the world hit "Coffee Rumba," which has been covered by many artists in Japan, sung in Malaysian. Kopi means coffee, and Dangdut is a popular music genre that has spread in Indonesia since the 1990s, and its rhythm is said to have originated from Indian music.
"Kopi Dangdut" was released in 1990 by the Indonesian Dangdut male/female vocal duo Champur DKI, produced by Makoto Kubota, and is known as a million-seller in Indonesia's home country. Sandii participated in the recording (as a member of Sandii & The Sunsetz) of this Champur DKI's "Kopi Dangdut".
Sandii lived in Hawaii during her late teens and most of her 20s. In that period, she sang in clubs and studied hula with Aunty Bella Richards of Kailua. She also met and bonded with Pattye Kealohalani Wright, who later became a Kumu Hula through Aunty Lani Kalama (1990). Sandii has the various, many different musical phases of her recording career. She has recorded as Sandi Ai, Sandy Hohn, Sandii & the Sunsetz, and now as Sandii. Since 1996, her albums have been Hawaiian or Polynesian-theme.
