Various rhythms lurk in the everyday. Subtleties hidden in the landscape.
Kita Kouhei, a musician and percussionist based in Kyoto, and Yotukura Yukiihiko, a folk performing arts enthusiast, musician, and sound artist based in Ishinomaki.
Percussion, guitar, array mbira, analog synth, Shinobue flute, and environmental sounds.
Using Array Mbira: the mysterious Instrument evolving the African Mbira to enable chord playing, string instruments, the shinobue flute that is the very essence of folk performing arts, and analog synths, they paint a mysterious landscape that seems both ordinary and extraordinary.
The first release, Resonance #1, is a series of works that combine the pure resonance of the two artists' ambience, without any themes or concepts.
Kita Kouhei is making music based in Kyoto, Japan. He is a professional percussionist, also performer of Array Mbira , a rare instrument in the world. His all works expresses these versatile skills and talent as a musician. Also just as like the artwork of all album which he made by himself, his compositions are like abstract paintings with beautiful tones made up of collages of daily sounds, noise and nature sounds, with rich textures. He has released 15 original albums. https://linktr.ee/kita_kouhei
Yukihiko Yotsukura is a musician based in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. His work is created in pursuit of the concept of "Hare to Ke" - a traditional Japanese world-view of unique occurrences with common everyday ones and their interrelationships with space and time. Simultaneously, as an active member of some of the fascinating local folk entertainment groups that emerged after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, he continues to study the expressions brought up by the people of the land and their daily lives. He gave a spirited and rousing Taiko drumming performance at the 2015 Milan International Exposition.
