There are tears I cannot show anyone. I want to smile in front of my friends so I came to a karaoke booth alone. The moment I close the door my shoulders relax. I pick a heartbreak song and sing with all my heart. My voice trembles and I go off key but no one is listening. Tears overflow at the chorus but I keep singing. I scream through song after song and end with an uplifting track. By the time I leave my eyes are a bit swollen but my heart feels clear. Crying is not weakness. It is precious time to reclaim myself. I make sure to have a place where I can cry alone regularly. That is my self care. The more I cry the more I can smile again.
