Emi Satellite (hereinafter, Emi) was inspired to write "IPO"when she started trading stocks in the wake of the corona pandemic.
The way in which the stock market fluctuates up and down daily - often in disconnect with the underlying economy - and the uncertainty caused by these movements can be compared to the emotions constantly running through the human mind, in a love affair for example, or in moments of self-reflection, through which we.
Emi developed mental methods to deal with the stock price movements: for example if the price of the stock she owns is high and thus she is worried about a potential fall, she'd think it was meant to be if it does indeed fall, but would remain optimistic until then and so forth. Typical thoughts of a stock trader and stock trading jargons and are portrayed throughout the lyrics.
The song is produced by the Tokyo based producer SKYTOPIA, who was also in charge of producing the previous 1st single. Emi and SKYTOPIA aimed to create sounds that have both a retro feel and a future feel, creating a unique atmosphere.
