Don't Hate the Hand

kneeking Records

They say hate the sin, but love the soul

Yet we burn the canvas to make us whole

We curse the artist for their fall

And miss the joy—no joy at all

Don’t hate the hand that made the crime

It’s not the same as hating time

If bitterness is what you crave

Then go ahead—be slave to rage

But life was meant for lighter things

Like broken bells that still can ring

The sage once said:

“I judged the heart but not the man,”

A mercy deep, an ancient plan

To know the wrong, to name the pain

But leave the soul outside the chain

A world that burns all guilty art

Will lose the maps that show the heart

Forgive the brush, forgive the sound

Even fallen stars still kiss the ground

So don’t hate the hand, just name the flame

Don’t smear the soul with stolen shame

Unless you love to curse and claw

Then that’s your truth—your bitter law

But me, I’d rather choose delight

In fragile songs and cracked twilight

So don’t hate the hand, just name the flame

Don’t smear the soul with stolen shame

Unless you love to curse and claw

Then that’s your truth—your bitter law

But me, I’d rather choose delight

In fragile songs and cracked twilight

"Don't Hate the Hand" is a song rooted in the teaching of Confucius:
"Hate the sin, not the person."
It quietly reflects on the power and the danger of words, expression, and art.

To criticize an action is not the same as denying a human being,
nor is it the same as rejecting everything that person has created.
Words and judgments spoken in the name of justice
can sometimes destroy prayer, order, and faith.

The image of a bell cracked by a brush in this song
is not an act of violence,
but a metaphor for the influence carried by expression itself.
Still, the brush is not laid down,
and the broken bell does not fall completely silent.

"Don't Hate the Hand" is not a song that expands hatred.
It entrusts the difficulty and the dignity of choosing not to hate
to the space between sound and words.

Kneeking Records is an independent music label that translates The Dictionary Journey into sound. The label was founded by Yoshihiro Sato, a calligrapher, a lifelong dictionary traveler, and a former kickboxing world champion. Since 2013, Yoshihiro has been reading dictionaries one page at a time writing, reflecting, and quietly documenting each newly discovered word. In 2025, these accumulated records began to take musical form. The Dictionary Journey is an ongoing exploration. With each passing day, new words are encountered, and their traces continue to grow steadily and without end. Kneeking Records spans a wide range of genres, including Reggae, J-Pop, R&B, Soul, House, Gospel, Funk, Ska, and at times, Punk Rock. While honoring the natural rhythm of language, the label pursues sound that is both refined and deeply listenable transforming the voice descending from calligraphy into music. That is the sound of Kneeking Records.
